Rest Assured with Silk
Posted by Heather Burrell on
Beauty rest is a real thing... and it starts with your pillowcase! Rave reviews for silk pillowcases can be found in recent articles by Southern Living, Bustle, Insider, and InStyle. There is no doubt about it, there are many beauty benefits to sleeping on silk.
- Reduces friction
- Less absorbent
- Self-regulates temperature
- Hypoallergenic
So, what does that mean? The friction between your hair and pillowcase when you toss and turn causes damage to the hair follicle, which can result in more frizz and less shine. Reducing that friction will cut down on bedhead and breakage. Less friction also helps prevent wrinkles in your skin. Silk is not as absorbent as fabrics, such as cotton which is intended to absorb moisture. This allows your skin to retain its moisture, as well as any products you apply.
Silk is completely natural and hypoallergenic, making it more gentle on your skin than other fabrics. (This is the primary difference between silk and satin. True silk is a natural fiber produced by silk worms. Satin is made of manufactured fibers, such as polyester, designed to imitate silk.) Silk “breathes” easier than other fabrics which helps it stay cool. A pillowcase you don’t have to flip? Yes, please!
We offer 19MM silk as an option for all of our designs. Each silk PillowGrace is handmade in our shop on St. Simons. It’s important to note that we love our cotton pillowcases just as much! We put forth a great deal of effort to source an ultra-sateen cotton fabric that is super soft with a slight sheen. However, when it comes to truly getting your beauty rest, there is nothing quite like silk + God's word!
Through Friday, May 22 we are offering 25% off all silk items! Enter code SILK25 at check-out.
