When Julie’s second oldest son, Carter, was making plans to head to Georgia Southern following his high school graduation, she and her husband, Hank, knew they wanted to send him into his next chapter armed with the Sword of the Spirit, the truth and wisdom that can only come from God’s word. They began a list of scriptures that would guide and encourage him as he navigated life away from home.
The 15 verses they put together are now known a Scripture for Integrity:
Psalm 119:9, Psalm 119:133, Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 1:16,
Jeremiah 29:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Deuteronomy 6:5,
Galatians 5:16, Galatians 22:23, Psalm 139:14, Ephesians 3:20-21,
Ephesians 4:32, Philippians 4:13, Philippians 4:8, Romans 8:37
Integrity begins and ends with verses about purity and includes verses about setting an example for others and trusting in God. As a mom, it was comforting for Julie to know God’s word was the last thing Carter would see before going to sleep and the first thing he would see when he woke up, especially since those late night hours can be some of the most stressful for a college student.
